About 20 thousand people attended concert of the Ulyanovsk State Academic Symphony Orchestra “Gubernatorsky” in the People's Republic of China
The orchestra gave five concerts in the cities of Qinghua, Ningbo, Qinghai-Xining and Beijing.
"Tours of the orchestra were made possible through the active collaboration of the Ulyanovsk region with the People's Republic of China. While playing in various concert halls, musicians attracted between one and a half and three thousand listeners, and in Ningbo more than ten thousand people visited the open concert. The programme included instrumental and vocal music of Russian (Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Modest Mussorgsky) and Soviet composers, as well as musical compositions of Chinese authors", - said the Acting Minister of Art and Cultural Policy Marina Mikheyeva.
According to the director of the Lenin Memorial Lidiya Larina, the concert of the Ulyanovsk State Academic Symphony Orchestra "Gubernatorsky", which took place in the Peking University on 4 January, started the Year of the 100th Anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. It is celebrated in China at the national level. The concert was attended by the political elite of the People's Republic of China, graduates and students of higher education institution. "The People's Republic of China takes a keen interest in the Russian culture and cultural cooperation with Russia. Music and art help to overcome the language barrier. During the event, the representative of the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China thanked the Ulyanovsk region. This was not just a coincidence; our region is closely connected with the name of Vladimir Lenin, and it is very important to China. By studying historical events of two countries, we learn about culture and life of our states", - Lidiya Larina emphasized.
According to the chief conductor and the artistic director of the Ulyanovsk State Academic Symphony Orchestra "Gubernatorsky", the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation Oleg Zverev, the orchestra is very proud to represent Vladimir Lenin's homeland in the People's Republic of China in the Year of the 100th Anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution: "During the tour, we represented Russia and the Ulyanovsk region. Our orchestra prepared the programme that was mainly comprised of Russian classics. The musical compositions were selected by the Chinese side and these were the most important works reflecting cultural development and arts, as well as the history of the Russian Federation".With the support of the Governor Sergey Morozov, active work is carried out in the Ulyanovsk region to establish partnership with the People's Republic of China. About 20 joint projects are underway one of which is the large-scale tourist grand tour "Red Route". According to the regional Ministry of Culture, activities will continue on exchange of exhibitions with China during the Year of the 100th Anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. It is also planned to implement other initiatives. For example, during the 55th International Music Festival "World, Era, Names ..." a museum project dedicated to aa Chinese statesman Liu Shaoqi will be presented in the Ulyanovsk region. Within three weeks, residents of Ulyanovsk and guests of the region will be able to learn about amazing Chinese culture and the life of the great representative of this country.
