Legrand to start construction of a new plant in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region
On 11 May 2017, the Governor Sergey Morozov took part in the foundation stone ceremony for the future plant.
As the head of the region has noted, many investors, including the foreign ones, continue to expand their productions in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region. “The Ulyanovsk region is the only one in the country where Legran Group has successfully localized and put into operation its plant. Two enterprises of this company for production of electrical equipment, including our legendary plant "Kontaktor", are already operating in the region. One third of company's goods represented at the Russian market are manufactured here. Today we are about to create a new, "smart" economy, the economy of the future that is based on high and advanced technologies, and, of course, such modern enterprises will be an important part of it. Legrand is one of them and coming to the region it witnessed support and commitment of the local authorities. This provided confidence in stable work and an opportunity to develop the production capacities”, - Sergey Morozov emphasized.
The investment agreement was signed by the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov, the Director General of Legrand Group in Russia and the CIS countries Alexis Conan and the head of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation Sergey Vasin within the V International Forum on Energy Efficiency and Energy Development in November 2016. According to the document, Legrand plans to construct the second plant on production of low-voltage cross connect equipment on a land plot of more than 22 thousand sq.m in the territory of the Zavolzhye industrial park until the end of 2018. Over the period of 2017-2018 the French investor will provide more than 1 billion rubles. Within implementation of the project at least 300 new jobs will be created for inhabitants of the region.
“Localization of new productions and expansion the already existing ones is a very important indicator that shows the quality of work carried out in the region. However, it not only ensures the high level of investment climate but also creates new jobs for inhabitants of the region, which helps us to train well-skilled workforce. We can see development of economic and industrial capacity of the region and we increase the revenue base of the regional budget”, - Alexander Smekalin noted.
