Isuzu production of heavy trucks was launched in the Ulyanovsk region
On May 19, the Governor Sergey Morozov, the Director General of "ISUZU RUS" Fabrice Gorlier and the director of production of the company Pavel Golovin took part in the event dedicated to the launch of vehicle assembly lines of the C and E series.
“I am very glad that there is a perfect understanding between us and our friends from ISUZU. Each step forward taken by the company have a really positive effect. One can see growth of wages and development of cooperation with enterprises of the region, and new jobs are created. Launch of the production line of heavy trucks is a very important stage for development of the region's industry and economy, which will give help not only automobile manufacturing but also the associated branches”, - Sergey Morozov emphasized.
According to the management of the enterprise, the assembly capacity is expected to be about 400 heavy trucks a year. In the next years, the volume will reach two thousand. It will be vehicles with diesel engines of the Euro 5 standard.
The volume of investments into the production site has reached 200 million rubles. According to the company, currently 220 people are working at the plant and within a year it is planned to increase this number up to 300.
“I would like to compliment the quality of professional training that we can see in Ulyanovsk. This is not a problem at all to find and select qualified people with good engineering education. We need professionals because we have quite a lot of complicated designs adapted for the Russian climate or for specific clients. This is the main feature of our product and it guarantees high competitiveness. High quality training of engineering staff in Ulyanovsk allows us to produce a wide range of designs directly on site”, - the Director General of "ISUZU RUS" Fabrice Gorlier noted.
The first Isuzu trucks' assembly line was launched in 2012 in the territory of Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ). Today the enterprise in Ulyanovsk manufactures a full range of ISUZU commercial vehicles with the full weight of three and more tons. Thanks to the production launch of these trucks, cumulative capacities of the plant are loaded up to and it is planned to make 4300 vehicles in 2017.
The head of the region also discussed with the Director General of the Japanese company establishment of bus production in the territory of the region . "We are actively working on the project for manufacturing of busses. We took a set of steps in this direction. The production will be placed in the Ulyanovsk region, and the goods will be sold throughout Russia. This will provide the region with a lot of opportunities to create new jobs", - Fabrice Gorlier reported.
In May 2012, an assembly shop of ISUZU RUS was opened in the territory of UAZ in Ulyanovsk as a part of the joint venture with the Russian enterprise SOLLERS, PJSC. Trucks made by ISUZU are assembled in Ulyanovsk with the use of both import and locally made parts and components. The enterprise plans to continue localizations of production in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region.
