Two new investment projects to be implemented in the Ulyanovsk region’s territory of advanced social and economic development "Dimitrovgrad"
The Governor Sergey Morozov reached the agreement during Day 0 of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum within the panel session "Monotowns - New Opportunities for Business".
According to the experts of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation, the first project includes sewing production of uniforms on the land plot in the industrial park "DAAZ". The investment agreement was signed by the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov, the head of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation Sergey Vasin, the head of the Administration of Dimitrovgrad Vyacheslav Gnutov and the Director General of Magellan Group Igor Shalnov.
The main products of the enterprise will be uniforms for the staff of law enforcement agencies, as well as clothes for hunting, fishing and outside activities. The company has been working at the Russian market for more than 25 years sewing clothes under the Magellan brand.
“In Soviet time, Dimitrovgrad was famous for its light industry. Such factories as "Olymp" and "Kovrotex" were well-known well beyond our region. Unfortunately, the economy of the 90th brought some major changes and the enterprises were closed, but today's agreement will allow to restore sewing production of the city and will provide Dimitrovgrad citizens with new working places. Taking into account that there is a large number of graduates of the Dimitrovgrad Institute of Technology, Management and Design who studied sewing and failed to find jobs in their field in the city, I am sure that the factory will not experience a shortage of qualified employees”, - the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov noted.
The total investment into creation of the clothing factory will make over 200 million rubles and 1500 people (mostly women) will work at the new enterprise.
“We will create a factory in the Ulyanovsk region with the use of the cutting-edge technologies and automated Italian equipment. The products will satisfy the needs of security agencies such as the Ministry of Defense, the Navy, Federal National Guard Troops Service of the Russian Federation and other structures”, – Igor Shalnov said.
The second project, which will also be placed in the territory of the advancing social and economic development "Dimitrovgrad", is production of automotive components. The Russian investor, OOO "Prizma", will create a joint venture with German business and will manufacture mirrors for domestic and foreign cars. The total investment will make 90 million rubles and over 220 new jobs will be created for Dimitrovgrad residents. “The company buys a significant part of raw materials from domestic manufacturers, so the project is also interesting in regard to import substitution”, – Sergey Vasin emphasized.
