Cooperation between the Ulyanovsk region and China in implementation of the WorldSkills project

The Governor Sergey Morozov made this proposal within the meeting of the Council in the Volga-Yangtze format. The event took place in the People's Republic of China under the chairmanship of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich and the member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Yang Jiechi.

“Just recently China has held the first large-scale international competitions by WorldSkills standards. In turn, the Ulyanovsk region is one of the first to join this movement. I think we have experience to share with our Chinese colleagues. We suggest to organize exchange of techniques and experts in the field of staff training and we consider this direction of cooperation development very promising”, – said Sergey Morozov during his performance at the meeting of the Council.

The first international competitions by the WorldSkills standarts - China International Skills Competition-2017 - took place in the People's Republic of China from June 6 to June 9. During the championship, 23 people, including Elena Kozhinova who is a graduate of the Ulyanovsk Technical School of Industry Technologies and Design, represented the Russian national team. Following the results of competitive testing, she won the gold medal. In total, the Russian national team received two gold, five silver and four bronze medals.

Recently the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets has urged all Russian colleges to join the movement “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia). “It is important that all children could compare their achievements with the achievements of their peers and that we could see the situation across all colleges”, – Olga Golodets said.

According to the Minister of Education and Science of the Ulyanovsk region Natalya Semyonova, now all Secondary Specialized Educational Institution of the region are included in the WorldSkills system. “Over 4.5 years of this project's implementation in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region, five regional championships have been already held. In 2013 they included six competences and 50 students took part in it, in 2016 there were 22 competences and the number of participants reached 150 people. The success of the regional staff training system is proved by good results of Ulyanovsk students who participate in championships of various levels in WorldSkills competences. A good example is performance of Radik Davydov, a student of Starokulatkinsky Mechanical and Technological College. Following the results of the fifth National championship "Young Professionals" in Krasnodar he became the bronze winner”, - Natalya Semyonova said.
