Ulyanovsk enterprises have become leaders in the export of grain to the Islamic Republic of Iran
The Governor Sergey Morozov discussed results of the interaction and joint projects of the Ulyanovsk region and Iran with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia Mehdi Sanai.
The meeting was held in Dimitrovgrad on 13 July. The Governor thanked the Ambassador for his attention to building partnership between the Ulyanovsk region and Iran and noted that ithe interaction between territories has considerably developed in recent years. "Our region has good economic, social, and political relationships with different provinces of Iran. We value this collaboration and the projects that will soon be implemented. It is very important to strengthen not only economic but also cultural relations, to pay attention to tourism development", - said Sergey Morozov.
Mr. Mehdi Sanai emphasized that our countries have established good and comprehensive relationships, and now it is necessary to consolidate efforts for their further development. “It is quite natural that the role of interregional cooperation is very important and I am glad that the Ulyanovsk region is actively working in this sphere. Over the recent years, the region has made great progress on investment attraction and the development rate. I hope that the joint plans and projects of Iranian and Ulyanovsk businesspeople are successfully implemented. We will provide all necessary support to help enterprises to establish direct contacts and cooperation”, - said the Ambassador.
According to the Chairman of the Board of the Ulyanovsk region Corporation for Enterprise Development Ruslan Gainetdinov, a warehouse of Ulyanovsk companies is operating in the Iranian Port of Anzali. “In the future, we are going to establish a large logistics center, a trading house of Russia in Iran. At the same time, the Ulyanovsk region and other regions of the Volga Federal District are interested in purchasing Iranian fruit, vegetables and other goods. We are also discussing the possibility to create a trading house of Iran in Russia”, - explained the head of the Corporation.
The head of the Ulyanovsk branch of the All-Russia Business Association "Delovaya Rossiya" (Business Russia) Ruslan Ilyasov noted that Ulyanovsk business has managed to establish stable channels of distribution that deliver regional products to the Islamic Republic of Iran. "Today, enterprises that produce flour, poultry or cattle show the results that have never been seen before. In the first half of 2017, we became the leader on shipments of grain crops in the Caspian", - said Ruslan Ilyasov.
The main product exported to the Islamic Republic of Iran is grain, with more than 23 million dollars' worth of goods shipped in 2016. In the first quarter of 2017, exports to Iran amounted to 8.2 million dollars. In addition to agriculture, Iranian partners are also interested in purchasing vehicles and cargo aircrafts of Ulyanovsk production.
A travel project is also under development. It assumes creation of a cruise from Iran to the Volga region. As the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia noted, the number of tourists coming from the Republic to Russia is growing. In 2013, seven thousand Iranians came to Russia as tourists. In 2016, this number reached 78 thousand, in 2017 - about 120 thousand. Next year the experts expect about 200 thousand people. "The main tourist destinations are Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Sochi. We want to establish a tourist route on the Caspian: from Tehran to Baku, Makhachkala and further along the Volga. An agreement has already been signed to abolish group visas for Iranian and Russian tourists," - said Mehdi Sanai.
