An agreement on cooperation between the Ulyanovsk nanocenter “ULNANOTECH”, a pharmaceutical company TOO "R-Pharm Kazakhstan" and OOO "TestGene" was signed within the framework of the "Eurasian week", which took place in Astana on 26 August.

The main goal of the cooperation is to introduce innovative solutions in the field of non-invasive prenatal diagnosis and diagnosis of cancer in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other CIS countries, as well as to develop a new set of advanced instruments for diagnosis to improve the quality of medical care and therapy.

“Today one of the main tasks for our companies is to seek out new partners, contacts and business territories. We raise National Champions capable of becoming competitive not only in regional and Russian markets but also in international ones. Today, Kazakhstan is a strategic partner, so the implementation of this project will be another step to bring our high-tech companies to export markets”, - said Governor Sergey Morozov.

The agreement was signed by the Director General of TOO "R-Pharm Kazakhstan" Victor Ryazanov (candidate of biological sciences), the Director of Business Development of OOO "Ulyanovsk Technology Transfer Centre" Vitaly Oginsky and the Director General of OOO "TestGene" Andrey Toropovskiy (candidate of medical sciences). According to the document, Nanocenter and TestGene will conduct research and development in the field of biotechnology and molecular genetics.

According to the Director General of TestGene Andrey Toropovskiy, the introduction of diagnostic sets to determine the RH factor of an unborn baby through analyzing the mother's blood whether it is necessary to take prophylactic measures to prevent such dangerous condition as rhesus hemolytic disease. "As a result, this method will allow to save budgetary funds while preventing rhesus-conflict of pregnant women," - said the head of the company.

The experts also said that in 2016, TestGene received a registration certificate of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan for non-invasive diagnostic sets. This means that they are registered and allowed to be used in medical practice. To date, the test system has been successfully implemented in more than 20 regions of Russia and 4 CIS countries. These sets do not require any additional equipment, and laboratory analysis is carried out within 2-3 hours using 7-10 ml of a pregnant woman's blood. “Promotion of products created by high-tech and knowledge intensive companies is one of the important components in implementation of May Presidential Decrees and one of the priority directions in our work. Currently, the region has created conditions to implement the results of inventors' intellectual activities in the real sector of economy. A specialized ecosystem is also under development. One of the most important and most effective infrastructure projects in this field is the Ulyanovsk nanocenter. Thus, thanks to a complex approach, we can see positive dynamics as far as this indicator is concerned”, - said Alexander Smekalin, the Chairman of the Government of the Ulyanovsk region.

The Ulyanovsk nanocenter "ULNANOTECH" was established in 2011 within the programme on creation of ROSNANO nanotechnology centers. In 2015, it received the status of a High-Tech Technopark and was included in the top ten Russian technoparks according to the National ranking. Under this project the nanocenter will participate in the quality control of performance results to help new partners with technical and marketing issues.
