More than 50 thousand tourists chose the Ulyanovsk region to celebrate the New Year

Guests of the region were particularly interested in cultural tourism.

The most popular routes included "Charm of Old Simbirsk", which offered Christmas programmes in the museums; "New Year's Simbirsk"; a sightseeing tour "Trip to the Old Gymnasium", during which guests could enjoy a visit to the Simbirsk Classical Gymnasium museum; and the brand new route "The Nobleman on Volga".

Among the most visited sights was the Museum of the Civil Aviation History, the House Museum of V.I. Lenin, the Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum, the Simbirsk Classic Gymnasium Museum, the Museum Manor of People's Artist of the USSR A.A. Plastov, as well as the museum called "The House where V. Ulyanov (V.I. Lenin) was born".

On average, one tourist spent from 3 to 5 days in the region. In total, guests of the region spent more than 500 million rubles excluding shopping costs during New Year holidays.

“The high hotels and camp sites’ load shows that inhabitants of the neighboring regions and other countries are really interested in the Ulyanovsk region. Of course, we consider development of the tourism industry as one of the priority spheres for social and economic development of the region. It will help to attract additional resources to the region and to form positive image of the Ulyanovsk region at the All-Russian and world scene”, - the Governor Sergey Morozov noted.
