Almost half of the rooms have already been reserved in hotels of the Ulyanovsk region for guests of the 2018 FIFA World Cup

It is expected that the regional center will be visited by tourists from Iran, Australia, the People's Republic of China, Turkey, Italy and other European countries.


Upon the initiative of the Governor Sergey Morozov, the project "Ulyanovsk - the Center of Hospitality for the 2018 FIFA World Cup" is being implemented in the region. For example, 30 thousand copies of guide books for the Ulyanovsk region (these also include pocket guides)  have already been released. They are called City Maps and show the main sites along tourist routes.

English version of the Tourism&Leisure in Russia magazine demonstrates tourist opportunities of the region to the international audience. This issue of the magazine was released for foreign citizens on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup. Pages dedicated to the Ulyanovsk region include information regarding public accommodation facilities, catering establishments and other city infrastructure that is ready to welcome fans of the event.

"The Ulyanovsk region focuses on sport a lot. This place will be interesting for football fans thanks to its unique sights and will also provide them with the opportunity to support their favorite football team in special fan zones created in cities. For these purposes, more than 300 volunteers will undergo training" - mentioned Sergey Kuzmin, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Ulyanovsk region.

Yulia Skoromolova, the director of the Ulyanovsk Region's Tourism Agency, announced that hotels' room capacity is ready for guests. “At the moment, potential fans are booking public accommodation facilities in the Ulyanovsk region to stay here during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. In the following few months, the regional hospitality industry will start serious training of personnel. It is necessary to improve English skills of employees, to adapt navigation of the city, as well as to provide menus in English, to make our gusts feel comfortable”, - she explained.
