In 2017 export from the Ulyanovsk region has increased by more than 60%

The financial turnover made about US$ 680 million. That said, the share of non-oil and gas and non-energy goods in the region's export is 95.46%.

In the Address to the Federal Assembly the President Vladimir Putin mentioned development of non-resource export as one of the sources of economic growth.

“Over six years we must double the volume of non-oil and gas, non-energy export up to 250 billion dollars. Production of mechanical engineering should be increased up to 50 billion dollars. Annual export of services, including education, medicine, tourism, and transport, should reach 100 billion dollars. In the early 2000s, we were strongly dependent on imported food. The situation has changed drastically since then. Now we need to take the next step. In four years, we are planning to export more food to the world markets than import into the country. At the same time, it is necessary to increase export of meat and high-added value products, as well as to improve the country’s self-sufficiency in beef, milk, and vegetables”, - the Head of the State said.

According to the Governor Sergey Morozov, support of export is one of the development priorities in the region and shows superior results every year. “We are pleased to note willingness of regional companies to come to foreign markets; and most importantly, we can see high competitiveness of their products, which are in demand far beyond the country. This is also reflected by the sustainable export growth - this year it made 62%. By the way, as the national average this indicator is approximately 20%. The number of export enterprises has also increased. Today we have 128 companies, 16 of which entered foreign markets for the first time last year”, - Sergey Morozov said.

According to experts of the Regional Export Center of the Corporation for Enterprise Development, sales geography has also extended. Now companies of the region supply their products to 89 non-CIS countries. The new export markets include such countries as Papua New Guinea, Laos, Peru, Cyprus, Vietnam, Taiwan and Oman.

“In 2018, we have the task to introduce new tools to promote goods in macroregions such as the CIS, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The Export Map of the Ulyanovsk region should become one of these tools. It is an online catalog and an interactive site which will contain information on the external capacity of the region. In the long term, the site will become the basis for export development”, - noted Ruslan Gaynetdinov, the Chairman of the Board of the Corporation for Enterprise Development of Ulyanovsk Region.
