A Committee for Development of Domestic Tourism and Hospitality has been created in the Ulyanovsk region at the regional office of the non-governmental organization " OPORA Russia" (Opora Rossii)

This agency will bring together businesses in the field of tourism and hospitality and create a single professional community. According to Sergey Morozov, the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region, the committee will promote construction of facilities for the tourism industry in the territory of the region, which will be attractive for residents of both Ulyanovsk and the neighboring regions.

“OPORA Russia has a similar committee at the federal level, which focuses on domestic tourism. Some interesting ideas in regard of active proprietors have already been developed. In the long term, the number of members of the committee will increase up to 20-30 people. They will include not only tourism professionals and representatives of travel companies, but any people interested in welcoming guests to their territory”, - noted Nikolay Solodovnikov, the head of the Ulyanovsk regional office of the All-Russian public organization of small and medium-sized business "OPORA Russia".

The Committee for Development of Domestic Tourism and Hospitality is headed by Andrey Kazantsev, the owner of two travel agencies (Anex Tour and OnlineTur.ru). The agency faces the challenge to develop domestic tourism into a full-scale sector of economy. In addition, the committee will monitor amendments to legislative acts and participate in discussions regarding their possible consequences for regional facilities of the tourism industry. The third sphere of activities will include protection of the rights and legal interests of the Ulyanovsk region's organizations and enterprises of small and medium-sized business working in the sphere of domestic and incoming tourism.

OPORA Russia acts as a platform for dialogue between the heads of small and medium-sized enterprises and executive authorities, as well as representatives of the expert community. According to Yulia Skoromolova, the Director of the Agency for Tourism of the Ulyanovsk region, the committee will help to improve business relations between the existing facilities of the tourism industry and to increase influence of the region by presenting tourist products and routes in Ulyanovsk to regions of the country.
