Ulyanovsk region to become the main venue for an International charity project "Angels of Nature"

This subject was discussed during the meeting on environmental protection, which took place in Undory Village on 30 March. It was chaired by the Governor Sergey Morozov.

It was decided that inclusive volunteering will be the main topic of the III International charity festival "Angels of Nature-2018". This sphere is in line with the Decade of Kindness and  the Voluntary Ecological Year that were announced in the Ulyanovsk region. This year, the main objectives of the festival will include socialization of people with disabilities, raising public awareness regarding careful attitude to nature, developing motivation in children, teenagers and the youth in general for self-realization, as well as making people’s thinking and ways of life more environmentally friendly. Among the priorities is also improvement of international and interfaith dialogue and friendship, as well as solving communication problems between healthy people and the ones with disabilities.

"Ecological volunteering is the main sphere of interest in the region in 2018. As such, we are actively developing volunteering and also encourage its interaction with the social ecological movement in the country. It will help us participate in the solution of environmental issues that are common for different territories. All events that take place within the thematic year promote the need to observe environmental regulation and to develop a system of separate waste collection. Today we have organized in municipalities voluntary ecogroups and public eco-inspectors; and we also supervise the work of volunteers in higher education institutions", - said Sergey Morozov, the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region.

The Angels of Nature festival will take place from 23 April to 15 May in Sochi, Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Republics of Bashkortostan, Kabardino-Balkaria, and Ingushetia. The Ulyanovsk region will become the main venue. During the event, the Inclusive Volunteering project will be presented to the public. It was developed in collaboration with Beacons of Friendship, an interregional social movement for interethnic concord.

"It is planned to hold the festival in May, and the main venue will become the Park of Friendship of Peoples. This place is ideal for the concept and it will be suitable for the projects' basic elements, such as planting trees and flowers, holding master classes in the open air and playing with tame animals. After the event, it is planned to carry out a roundtable discussion in open areas of the Pedagogical University", - noted Mikhail Semyonkin, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources of the Ulyanovsk region.

According to the relevant agency, the region has a good experience in implementation of the projects aimed at the development of the ecology volunteering movement. Such events like "Green Pioneers", "Ekolyata-Doshkolyata" and "Ekotusovka" have taken place in many municipalities. Hundreds of active Ulyanovsk residents took part in them. The interdepartmental project "Decade of Kindness" was launched in the region last year. As a part of it, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Education and Science will continue to support volunteer initiatives and projects in the sphere of environmental protection. According to the experts, ecological education and promotion of ecological awareness are the key factors for eco-mindedness of the population.
