Ulyanovsk region is among five leading regions of the Volga Federal District on indicators of social and economic development in January-February 2018

During the staff meeting, which took place on 2 April, the Governor Sergey Morozov listened the report of Oleg Yagfarov, the Deputy Director-General of the Center for Strategic Researches.

“A favorable investment and business climate, as well as new jobs, – this is what helped the Ulyanovsk region to take the leading positions in the rating of the Volga Federal District. Another growth driver of the region is the building industry. We have to develop measures to stimulate new housing construction”, - Sergey Morozov noted.

According to the dedicated experts, in comparison with the last month the Ulyanovsk region has improved its positions in rating, having risen from the sixth to the fifth place following the results of January-February 2018. At the same time, the region became the leader on two indicators. The first one is on the volume of completed construction - the growth has made 82.9% (versus the same period of the previous year), and the second one is on the amount of earnings - 30.9%.

“The Ulyanovsk region's position in the rating of regions of the Volga Federal District was ensured by consistently high indicators of the consumer market, building and agricultural industries, as well as the low unemployment rate”, - Oleg Yagfarov noted.

The region has also taken the second place in the rating of the Volga Federal District on such indicators as the officially registered unemployment rate - 0.46%, public catering - 113.7%, and the amount of consumer services provided to the population - 106.9%.

The Ulyanovsk region takes the third place on the unemployment rate indicator according to the International Labor Organization (ILO) – 4.1% as well as on the consolidated consumer price index on goods and paid services to the population (CPI) – 100.25%.
