Governor Sergey Morozov has taken part in the opening of the 19th International Specialized Exhibition "Metal Working-2018"

The event takes place from 14 to 18 May and is the largest Russian exhibition of the world machine-tool building and modern technologies of metal working.

The exhibition brings together professionals of the industry and demonstrates the latest trends in the market. This year the exhibition space exceeds 40 thousand square meters. More than 1000 companies from 33 countries of the world will show their achievements. DMG MORI Ulyanovsk machine-tool plant will present seven hi-tech machines.

The Governor Sergey Morozov set the task to revive domestic machine-tool construction in the Ulyanovsk region a few years ago. As a result, DMG MORI (a Japanese-German company) came to the region. The enterprise was opened in 2015. In 2016 within the International Investment Forum "Sochi-2016", the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Government of the region, DMG MORI and OOO "Ulyanovsk Machine-Tool Plant" signed the Russia's first special investment contract in the sphere of machine-tool construction.

“Today we have created a machine-tool constructing cluster in the territory of the region. It includes the complete chain of competences ranging from training, project design and engineering services to direct production. We have leading the companies in this sphere – Simbirsk Machine-Tool Plant, Haltec, and Frest. We are also actively cooperating with Czech companies in the sphere of machine-tool construction. For example, Trimill has already shipped several machines to the Aviastar-SP plant, as well as has placed a unique processing center at the Ulyanovsk tool plant "FORSH", which is located in Zavolzhye Industrial Park. There are only two such devices in the world – in the USA and now in Russia, in Ulyanovsk. In addition, Hestego (Czech Republic) began its work in Zavolzhye Park last year. This company specializes in machine-tool construction. It has launched production of telescopic and cabinet protection for machines”, - Sergey Morozov said.

During the exhibition, an agreement of intent has been signed in the presence of the head of the region and the Chairman of the Executive Board of DMG MORI Christian Thönes.Under the document, machines made by the enterprise will be transferred to the Ulyanovsk State Technical University. It will also allow to strengthen cooperation in the sphere of training development with the use of CNC machines, as well as to increase candidate pool of machine-tool industry thanks to production and education capacities of the parties.
