Ulyanovsk Region to Create Competence Center for Non-Ferrous Metal Casting

During a visit to Dimitrovgrad Automotive Components Plant (DAAZ) on 19 May, the head of the region Aleksey Russkikh and Sergey Kogogin (Director General of KAMAZ PTC) examined current production facilities and discussed prospects for cooperation.

“We are interested in attracting new investors to the Ulyanovsk region and are ready to create favorable conditions for the ones who are already working with us. I have already given directions to the regional Government to prepare a legislative framework to extend the period of tax benefits for residents of territories of advanced social and economic development (TASED) in the Ulyanovsk region. This is a big and important task that we must complete to create new jobs and increase salaries,” said Acting Governor Aleksey Russkikh.

Construction of the Competence Center for Non-Ferrous Metal Casting, which was announced last year, has already started at TASED "Dimitrovgrad". The head of the region also reached an agreement with the management of KAMAZ PTC on joint investments in development of the industrial park – the parties will provide 250 million rubles in total.

“We are planning to create a platform that will work for the benefit of AVTOVAZ and Rostec. I am glad that the Ulyanovsk region is interested in our practices, and I believe that there are great prospects for future cooperation. We will create new jobs further down the line, as long as the capacity of labor force in Dimitrovgrad allows it,” said Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ PTC.

The established cooperation between the region and KAMAZ, as well as the company's interest in development of DAAZ, stimulate activities of new investors. Alexander Smekalin, Acting Chairman of the Government of Ulyanovsk Region, commented on results of Sergey Kogogin's visit to the region. “Simultaneous upgrade of manufacturing areas at DAAZ and modernization of its production facilities have created competitive advantages for this industrial park. Most importantly, today we can see requests from residents, including new ones, for expansion of the park's territory,” he explained.

At the moment, TASED "Dimitrovgrad" has 47 residents. About 695 million rubles have been invested in production. More than 1.3 thousand jobs have been created; when residents reach their full production capacity, this number will increase up to 2.5 thousand.

Aleksey Russkikh and Sergey Kogogin also visited Dimitrovgrad Steel Reinforcement Plant, Polesie DG and Prisma - residents of the Industrial Park "Master", which was created at DAAZ.
