Ulyanovsk Region Seeks to Enhance Cooperation with Participants of Research and Education Center "Engineering of the Future"
The head of the region Aleksey Russkikh met with representatives of REC in Ulyanovsk on 9 June.
He said, “By working with REC, we get a chance to implement major projects, to achieve mutual integration of science and business, to bring research and development activities to the world level, and to create relevant training programmes for competitive workforce so as to address global science and technology challenges.”
According to Olga Mikheeva, Director General of the autonomous non-profit organization "Institute for Regional Development" and Adviser to the Governor of Samara Region, the Ulyanovsk State Technical University and the Ulyanovsk State University joined REC to represent the Ulyanovsk region.
The Ulyanovsk Region Agency for Technological Development commented that as part of REC, educational and scientific institutions develop projects that aim to address strategic objectives of science and technology development. In addition, they also develop new products and digital solution for organizations working in the real sector of economy.
Following the meeting, Aleksey Russkikh emphasized that regional universities will continue their cooperation within the Research and Education Center as they have all necessary conditions to reach an advanced level in this sphere.

The Research and Education Center (REC) "Engineering of the Future" was created in 2019. It aims to integrate higher-educational institutions and scientific organizations, as well as to promote cooperation between them and establishments operating in the real sector of economy. REC seeks to become the world leader in both science and technology development and training of specialists in areas relevant to the center's work.
The Ulyanovsk region cooperates with the Samara region to create conditions that will help address major problems in science and technology. This is necessary to develop branches of science and technology and to promote the agenda of REC "Engineering of the Future".
In addition to the Samara and Ulyanovsk regions, REC includes the Penza and Tambov regions, the Republic of Mordovia, and 50 other participants such as universities, scientific institutions and enterprises.
