Ulyanovsk Region Presents Its Experience of Cooperation with Turkey
First Deputy Prime Minister Marina Alekseeva represented the region at the forum "Russia - Turkey: New Challenges and Opportunities for Cooperation and Partnership".
The event was organized by the Russian-Turkish Dialogue Association and the Russian-Turkish Working Group under the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs with information support from the Russian Business Guide magazine. During the forum, both sides expressed their readiness to develop meaningful cooperation in all spheres, including the expansion of trade, economic and investment activities.
“Turkey is one of the long-term and largest economic partners of the Ulyanovsk region. Our portfolio includes a large number of cooperation agreements. Partnering relationships have been established with the Uludag Exporters' Association, the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey, the Confederation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and the Textile and Construction Industry Union of the Republic of Turkey. We signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. The region's foreign trade turnover with Turkey is growing every year,” said Marina Alekseeva.
The investment partnership continues developing too. By now, Turkish companies have implemented three major industrial projects in the region: the AB InBev Efes brewery has been operating since 2010, and Martur launched mass production of car seats in January 2016. Using Turkish technologies, Russian company Pamir built their steel production facility in 2018. A Turkish project involving materials for the composite industry is also being implemented in the Port Special Economic Zone "Ulyanovsk". These companies have invested more than nine billion rubles in the region's economy and created 650 well-paid jobs.
Marina Alekseeva added, “It is very nice that we started 2022 by signing an investment agreement with a Turkish company. We are currently building a production facility for it in one of the most successful industrial parks of Russia.”
In addition, cooperation has been established in the Ulyanovsk region between Russian businesses, foreign investors and Turkish construction companies, which include LimakMarashstroy, StroyDevelopment, Renaissance Construction, to build major infrastructure, shopping, entertainment and industrial facilities.
Participants of the plenary meeting highly appreciated work of the region in attracting investment and creating favorable conditions for business.
According to the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation, completed production sites are available in the Ulyanovsk Region for any investors. These include production facilities and land plots with developed industrial infrastructure - companies can come there and start working on their projects right away. In addition, the Ulyanovsk region has implemented all investor support measures available in the Russian Federation.
The region's significant advantage is its advanced administrative procedures and the short time period required to receive all necessary permits and documents as part of the project support.
